Indira Canteen is a hotbed of chaos..!?
Indira Canteen at the old bus stand in Kolar City is a mess. Cleanliness, water supply, and toilet facilities are difficult. The city council, which should take note of all this, is not putting its head in this direction. The government started Indira canteens with the objective of providing meals and snacks to customers at low rates. Apart from providing low-cost food items, Caten is also provided with cleanliness and necessary facilities for the customers. But the consequences of neglecting to address these are crippling to customers.
A fresh example of this is Indira Katin of Nagar. The Indira Canteen at the city's old bus stand is a mess. Cleanliness, water supply, and toilet facilities are difficult. The city council, which should take note of all this, is not putting its head in this direction. At least adequate water supply is not being provided to Indira Canteen, the Annadasoha center for the public. There is no water in the toilet and it stinks. The clean drinking water unit installed in the premises of Indira Canteen has been broken for four or five months. Thus, 15 cans of water need to be purchased for the customers who come to the canteen every day. The canteen premises are not clean. When it rains, the canteen building leaks. Despite all these problems, it is ironic that neither the concerned officials nor the people's representatives of the constituency are bothered.
But municipal civic workers come to Indira Canteen daily for breakfast and lunch. Street vendors, college students, and menial laborers from the old bus stand flock to Indira Canteen. Also, even though orders are mostly given to Indira Canteen for the district collector and district panchayat programs, no one is coming forward to solve the problems here. The canteen staff lamented that despite complaining to the concerned municipal officials several times, it was of no avail. It is said that the contractor has 5 months' salary arrears for some staff.
As per the Indira canteen menu, lunch and dinner and morning snacks are prepared and served at fixed rates. There are no loopholes in it. But consumers are deprived of basic facilities. In this connection, the customer has requested that the collector visit the Indira Canteen once and inspect it.
