The governor also expressed her heartfelt sympathy for the suffering endured by those affected by the recent flooding and severe rains. She has pleaded with both the government and non-governmental groups to provide the most assistance possible to people who have been severely impacted by the recent rains and floods. She said that she had immediately urged the indian Red Cross Society to contact the affected families and offer immediate help, which is now being done.
She made the request saying, "The government has established relief centres at public and educational facilities, but it appears that these shelters need to be expanded since the flooding is still wreaking havoc. "I have a gut feeling that whatever assistance we give to the impacted families in these trying times with the current strategy is insufficient," she added. She urged all parties involved to work as a team to expedite the relief and recovery efforts so that the grieving process for impacted families may be completed as quickly as possible.
