Telangana - Hyderabad-based community project aims to bring together nature enthusiasts

Isn't it pleasant to leave the limits of routines and walls to find a respite in nature—to roam through the lush green surroundings, mesmerising sceneries, and uncover the beauty of the world and within?—in the middle of the hurry and bustle of daily life? The 'Outdoor Classroom', where nature serves as the best teacher, offers such experiences.

The community initiative, which Raghava and his buddy Devender founded in Hyderabad, offers a variety of events, from morning treks to multi-day summer camps, bringing together nature lovers of all ages and backgrounds. It all began when Raghava, a dedicated and qualified rock climber, discovered the city's Mahendra Hills, a hidden gem. He started investigating rock climbing in this unknown area with Devender. The enjoyable climbing initiative quickly developed into a thriving community activity, attracting a group of about 60–70 people.

The two founded "Outdoor Classroom" after seeing the outdoors' enormous potential to offer life-enriching experiences. In the end, the platform transformed into a sanctuary where people could commune with the natural world, other like-minded people, and themselves. Other nature-related activities were added to the programme, encouraging participants to reflect and become more self-aware. "We are working hard, chasing our aspirations, and racing about. However, somewhere along the line of life's pursuit of the great things, we forget to be grateful for the little things. We lose sight of what it's like to be outside, to do nothing except sit beneath a tree," the 24-year-old claims.

"And even just spending time outdoors having fun teaches us so much. Even if it isn't academic, it still offers so much value and a feeling of personal development, he continues. The Outdoor Classroom community organises a wide variety of activities, including historical walks, photo walks, farm-based experiences, themed summer camps, and astronomy sessions, in addition to exploring exhilarating adventure activities like rappelling and rock climbing at forts in Bhongir, Addakal, and areas close to Hyderabad.

They were successful in organising more than 50 nature connect programmes over the course of two years. The group's mission is to impart useful knowledge and foster lifelong memories in the midst of nature. Devender is in charge of creating and selecting the themes and tasks, while Raghava is in charge of teaching the participants. aishwarya offers instructional assistance. These three people make up the core team, and depending on the activity they are hosting, they also work with other trainers.

In August, Outdoor Classroom has a lineup of exhilarating treks planned, and they'll be updating their instagram calendar shortly. In addition, they anticipate going on trips beyond the city. Raghava sums up, "Our Earth is so lovely and large, and we want to discover all there is.
