Tomato price skyrockets in Hyderabad due to rainfall in Telangana

The recent rainfall in telangana and other indian states caused the price of tomatoes in hyderabad to increase to Rs 200 per kg, thus it appears that there is no relief in sight for the people who are suffering from the growing cost of produce. The price increased dramatically in just one week, from Rs. 140 to Rs. 200 per kg.

According to dealers, the price will likely increase much more during the next week, reaching Rs. 250 per kg. Since consumers in hyderabad are no longer purchasing tomatoes and are instead focused on other veggies as a result of the price increase, sales volume has also significantly fallen. Vendors were bringing in tomatoes from andhra pradesh and maharashtra prior to the price increase.

However, there is a shortage of tomatoes coming from these regions due to significant crop losses brought on by the states' sporadic rainfall. Tomatoes from punjab are being imported into hyderabad and other telangana regions. In the meanwhile, several restaurants and eateries have begun reducing the use of pulpy fruit in food preparation as a result of the increase in tomato costs. Stay tuned with us.
