VP Singh overturned the government by showing the diary..


In 1987, Swedish Radio published the news of manipulation in the purchase of Bofors cannon. This deal was done on 24 march 1986 between the government of india and the Swedish company AB Bofors. In its report, Swedish Radio mentioned an alleged diary found from the company's managing director, in which it was written about the transaction.


There was a political ruckus in india after the report came from Swedish Radio. VishwanathPratap Singh, a minister in the government, resigned from his post by accusing Rajiv Gandhi. After parting ways with the congress, Singh held a press conference.Here too, Singh showed a page of the diary to the journalists and claimed that it contained a swiss bank account in the name of Rajiv Gandhi. Singh and his party made it a big campaign. Singh started showing this page of the diary to the public across the country.

In the 1989 elections, VP Singh's party announced that after coming to the government, it would be investigated and action would also be taken. Singh's campaign was successful and rajiv gandhi was defeated. VP Singh became the prime minister of the country from the National Front.However, Singh's government could not find out the truth about the diary, after which Rajiv was acquitted in the Bofors case. In an interview, Ghulam Nabi Azad, close to rajiv gandhi, had said that there was nothing in the diary, but we could not counter VP Singh's point. This is the reason why this plight of congress happened.
