Earlier, the National Medical Commission had blocked permission for three private medical colleges in the state to continue MBBS courses. Admissions to thrissur Jubilee Medical Mission Hospital, thiruvananthapuram Karakonam Somervell Memorial CSI Medical college, and Sri Gokulam Medical college were blocked as they were found not to have met the criteria. A total of 450 seats were blocked in all three places. 100 seats of thiruvananthapuram SUT Medical Science Academy were reduced to 50. Actions were taken on the grounds of a lack of teachers, resident doctors, and basic facilities and non-implementation of the National Medical Commission recommendations. A meeting was called by the VC of the university of health in the context of the position of the Medical Council, which allowed solving the problem.
