It announced on thursday that it is removing the password-sharing facility. It explained that the single account password-sharing facility is for family members only.

Last month, Netflix missed its expected profit. With this, it has taken a decision to impose restrictions on users sharing passwords. As a part of this, the password-sharing facility has been raised in about 100 countries. As part of this, these restrictions have already come into effect in countries like the US, Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, and Brazil, which are key markets for OTT. It is noteworthy that Netflix has increased by another 60 lakh subscribers. The company announced that the decision taken by Netflix is being implemented in India. Netflix said in its announcement that members of a family can share the same account passwords. It explained that the family members can avail of this facility whether they are at home, away, or on holiday. It said that it has already sent emails to those who are sharing passwords with outsiders other than family. It explained that entertainment choices will be made widely available to its members. That is why they are continuing to invest in new films and tv shows. So it says that it is making available all kinds of entertainment to suit the mood of its members, regardless of their language, wherever they are.
