MBT calls for ban on ‘Razakar’ movie in Telangana Hyderabad

The Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) called for the film to be banned on Monday, just days after the poster for the film "Razakar - The Silent Genocide of Hyderabad" was unveiled. Amjed Ullah Khan, a spokesperson for MBT, claimed in a statement that the movie "Razakar" is based on "pure imagination" and the ability to create enmity among people.

Senior bharatiya janata party (BJP) figures like former telangana president and karimnagar mp bandi sanjay kumar, former mp AP Jithendar Reddy, and former maharashtra governor C vidyasagar Rao were present at the poster launch ceremony. Under Nizam's leadership, the nationalist party's paramilitary volunteer army in hyderabad state was known as the Razakars. Founded in 1938 by Bahadur Yar Jung, the leader of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, they saw significant growth under Qasim Razvi's leadership around the time of India's independence.

Producing the movie is politician gudur Narayana Reddy, who, according to Khan, defected from the congress to the bjp after being accused of stealing party funds during the 2018 elections. The MBT leader explained that the phrase "Razakar," which is an urdu word that meaning "volunteer," was coined by "members of a fictional private army associated with the Majlis-e Ittehadul Muslimeen," according to right-wing historians.

Khan claimed that bjp officials have little knowledge of urdu or its history. He asserted that "Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh" may also be translated into an organisation of "Razakars" in Urdu. If the movie is approved, someone will make a follow-up called "Police Action" that will show the atrocities perpetrated during police action as described in the Pandit Sunderlal Report, which was created by a team selected by the central government shortly after the 1948 tragedy. It is estimated that between 27000 and 40,000 Muslims died as a result of police activity in the former hyderabad state.
