Weak Monsoon - No water immediately for irrigation under Krishna basin projects in Telangana

The krishna basin projects' extent of sowing and crop condition are being evaluated by irrigation officials, who will decide whether to finalise the irrigation schedule, which is expected to be further delayed this year. Officials want to file a request for water release from the krishna river Management Board before finalizing the irrigation schedule in order to meet drinking water needs. "By Tuesday, we should be able to determine the precise requirements for this purpose. Within 48 hours, we will prepare the indent letter, they promised.
"Our first goal is providing hyderabad with the drinking water it requires. We shall shortly be getting water from the nagarjuna sagar Project as usual. The water supply in hyderabad must be supported by a minimum drawdown level (MDDL) of 510 feet. Nearly 518 feet is where the project is at this time. 5,679 cusecs per second are coming into the project from local sources, according to their statement.
In contrast to the gross storage of 312 TMC, the nagarjuna sagar project has a live storage of 146 TMC. In order to meet its needs in the krishna Delta, andhra pradesh began to draw water from the basin projects in June. To cover its drinking water needs, it has also filed a new indent with the KRMB for 5 TMC. Due to the need to give priority to the water, the KRMB will investigate this proposal.

The project nagarjuna sagar spans an area of more than 17.60 lakh acres. Only 6.6 lakh of these acres are in Telangana, which receives the majority of its water via the Left Main Canal. The Left Main Canal supplies food to an additional 1.3 lakh acres of ap ayacut. The project's right main canal is intended to exclusively supply the 9.7 lakh acres of NSP in Krishna, Guntur, and prakasam in AP. Farmer preparations for paddy transplantation are underway in Suryapet, Nalgonda, and Khammam. A little over 46% of the sowings have been reported thus far in Nalgonda, 11% in Suryapet, and 21% in Khammam. It has been much rainier than usual.
Ajay Kumar, the chief engineer for the nagarjuna sagar Project, ruled off the possibility of considering an immediate water release for irrigation purposes on Monday. He made it plain that the provision of drinking water was the major concern right now. He claimed that the actual requirements for this purpose will be evaluated before any action was taken.
The jurala project has not yet received any funding. The same is true for the srisailam project. In comparison to its total storage capacity of 9.66 TMC, Jurala has a live storage of around 6.07 TMC. Compared to the gross storage capacity of 215.81 TMC, live storage in the srisailam project had decreased to 33.72 TMC. If the projects did not receive enough inputs, these levels would not be able to support irrigation for very long.
