CHENNAI: Obsolete old trades already being offered in government vocational training institutes (ITIs) have been removed and new trades have been introduced. ITIs have been upgraded as technology centers with state-of-the-art machinery. chief minister M.K.Stalin today inaugurated the industry 4.0 technology centers built at a cost of Rs.1559.25 crore. All government Vocational Training Institutes in tamil Nadu have been upgraded as technology Centers in association with Tata Technologies to adapt to the changing technology of industries to enhance the quality of training so that ITI graduates can get immediate employment in industrial companies. Inaugurated by chief minister Stalin: chief minister M.K. stalin inaugurated the industry 4.0 technology Centers constructed at a cost of Rs 1559 crore 25 lakh in 45 government Vocational Training Centers through a video presentation at the Chief secretariat today. Industrial Training Institutes are being run by Labor Welfare and Skill Development Department of tamil Nadu government in various parts of tamil Nadu considering that students can get employable skills and get decent employment and raise their socio-economic status by getting vocational training. This will increase the employability of the students. tamil Nadu government is implementing various schemes like starting new government vocational training institutes, improving their infrastructural facilities, starting new industrial units to create such skilled manpower. Vocational education Courses: government vocational training institutes are currently providing training in 78 vocational courses such as fitter, turner, machinist, electrician, welder, AC mechanic. tamil Nadu government has planned to upgrade 71 government Vocational Training Centers as technology Centers to provide industry 4.0 level skill training at a cost of Rs.
