MBBS in India - Telangana contributes 43 pc new seats in govt colleges

Nearly 43% of the new MBBS seats in government medical institutions across india came from the telangana state. government medical institutions added a total of 2118 additional MBBS seats for the 2023–2024 academic year, with 900 of those seats going to Telangana. It was made feasible by the development of nine medical institutions in telangana, which would soon begin offering academic programs. 


The telangana government recently issued a government Order (GO) that altered the telangana State Medical college Admissions Rules, giving local applicants even greater benefits. In accordance with the updated GO, telangana students will only be permitted to enroll in medical institutions that are founded after june 2, 2014.


Previously, local residents were only eligible for 85% of the available seats, while the other 15% were open to applicants from both telangana and Andhra Pradesh. According to T Harish Rao, the state's health minister, telangana has established government medical colleges, marking a significant historical milestone for the nation. Nine new medical institutions will open in the state this year, adding 900 extra MBBS places for students. The National Medical Council has given the karimnagar government medical college its a blessing.
