The State government spent Rs 35 crore to purchase a high-end robotic surgery equipment, which was unveiled on monday at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for the first time in a government tertiary hospital in Telangana. The robotic surgery system is a component of the State government's attempts to turn NIMS into a centre of excellence, according to State health minister T harish rao, who made the announcement on monday after the medical apparatus' official opening.
"Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has specifically allotted a grant of Rs. 154 crore to NIMS in order to enable the purchase of upscale medical equipment. According to him, funds from the Aarogysri health insurance programme are being used to buy the new equipment. NIMS has undergone significant renovations recently and is on track to surpass all other hospitals in the nation in data-size. The number of beds available overall at NIMS has increased from 900 to 1800 beds. The building of the 2000-bed NIMS superspecialty hospital, which will bring the total number of beds to 4000, has just had its foundation stone placed by the chief minister, he added.
T harish rao bemoaned that the governor of telangana, tamilisai soundararajan, was making statements without being adequately informed in response to the Governor's visit to OGH. "It's regrettable that some people purposefully choose not to acknowledge the significant advancements made by telangana in the health sector. It is depressing to observe those in positions of authority who are unable to accept or value the positive changes taking place in Telangana's government health system. I implore such people to desist from criticising government healthcare staff inanely," he stated.
Dr. rahul Devraj, professor and head of the NIMS department of urology, has been designated as the person in charge of the Robotic Surgical System training programme, which was launched on Monday. According to a monday order from the Medical Superintendent of NIMS, the senior urologist will work with the faculty and other nursing staff to arrange suitable training for using the Robotic Surgical System and will also oversee equipment maintenance.
