The contentious subject of land allocation by the telangana government to Velma and kamma community organisations was heard by the telangana high court on Thursday. After Kakatiya university professor venkat Reddy filed a public interest litigation (PIL), the issue was presented before a bench chaired by Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan.

The Chief Justice added that a divided society, contrary to the principles of the twenty-first century and a technologically advanced state like telangana, could result from this strategy of allocating land based on caste. The court vehemently condemned caste-based land distribution and emphadata-sized that there are constitutional measures in place for distributing land to SC/ST groups.

A secunderabad citizen complained about the distribution, stating that acres of land worth millions of rupees were given away for just one penny each. The land allocation was defended in court by Advocate General B S Prasad. The Jeeyar Academy, which is owned by a Hindu religious leader, received notices from the court, which set the hearing for July 24 and the allotment case for august 18.
Also scheduled for consideration was a petition objecting to the allocation of 5 acres of land for Reddy's college Hostel. This matter has been given notice, and the subsequent hearing is slated for june 23.
