Yenugu Krishnamurthy, 83, methodically describes the history of each of his 1,000 antique objects as he strolls around his house museum in Alwal. The location, known as the YK Antiques house Museum, embodies Krishnamurthy's lifelong love of antiques and has a retro south indian house feel. The setting evokes a traditional south indian home from the 1950s, complete with brass kitchenware, stone cooking pots, vintage typewriters, and rotary phones.

He chuckles when asked how it all began and thinks of his mum. "I made the decision to relocate my mother to chennai with us while I was working there. She brought several large brass utensils, so because there was no room for them in the kitchen, I set them up as decorative items in our living room.

All of their friends who afterwards paid them a visit were sentimental and began to discuss their grandparents and rural life. "I felt good, and I started collecting more," he claims. He travelled the nation collecting items for his collection, storing them with the aid of Venkata Ramana, his wife.

His kitchen is full with brass, tin, and copper cooking equipment, giving off that retro vibe. You may discover a variety of enormous plates, known in Arabic as tambalam, on one of the walls, and musical instruments and weaponry on the other. In addition, he owns a collection of antique furniture, two canopy beds, and hookah pots.

Everything in his home is decades old, from the kitchenware he uses to prepare his meals in the morning to the seats he uses to relax in the evening. A few years ago, before his wife passed away, they discussed giving the entire collection to a museum. But on the recommendation of a friend, they decided to try operating their own museum.

"We decided to try it for six months and see how it goes. If something functions, it functions. If not, we'd donate it, he declared. The house museum performed admirably and developed into a singular attraction in the city.

They began to get visits three times each week, and as a result, Google's top searches for "Museums in Hyderabad" included them.
