Price... Debt... Floods... Challenges data-faced by Pakistan..!?
After Sri Lanka, pakistan has also seen a sharp rise in prices, and the government of pakistan is taking various measures. Especially, the price of vegetables and fruits, which are necessities, has seen a sharp increase. Due to the severe floods in pakistan, production has suffered a lot. While the prices have already reached a high point, now the flood has created an even more severe situation.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani government is expected to import tomatoes and onions into india to bring prices under control. Last Sunday, tomato, and onion were sold at Rs 500 and Rs 400 per kg respectively in the Lahore market. However, PTI said that the price was Rs 100 less per kg than in other markets. While the prices are currently at their peak, the prices of vegetables are expected to increase further in the coming days.
Several thousand acres of land have been affected by floods in Pakistan's main production areas of Balochistan, Sindh, and southern Punjab. Due to this, the supply of vegetables is expected to decrease. Therefore, it is expected in the market that the price is likely to rise further. It is also expected that the price of tomato and onion may cross Rs 700 per kg in the coming days. The price of potatoes has already increased from Rs 40 to Rs 120. It is expected to increase further.
So there are reports that india is considering importing onions and tomatoes from india through the wagah data-border. At present, tomatoes and onions are supplied to Lahore and other cities of punjab from afghanistan via Bergham. 100 tonnes of tomatoes and 30 tonnes of onions are supplied daily at the Torgam data-border. Out of which two containers of tomatoes and one container of onions are transported to Lahore daily. Currently, there is a lot of demand and very little supply in the market.
Not only tomatoes and onions, but the supply of many vegetables including capsicum is also declining. Meanwhile, the government of iran has increased taxes on exports and imports, and it is said that it is impossible to import from there.
Due to the heavy floods in Sindh, most of the orchards have been destroyed and the prices of dates and bananas are expected to increase in the coming days. All in all, it is expected that this may further increase the problem for the government of Pakistan. Will india help pakistan during this period? This is not only helpful but also seen as an export opportunity.
