 If you are also availing free ration scheme of Govt then this news is important for you. As per the new update, existing ration card holders will have to pay the price for food grains. According to the latest orders issued by the Uttar Pradesh government, the distribution of free rations to ration card holders will be stopped from September. But under the Pradhan Mantri Garib kalyan Yojana scheme, free rice will continue till September.
Meanwhile, during the first wave of Corona last year 2020, free ration distribution of 5 kg wheat and rice per unit was started to ration card holders under Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) besides regular ration to ration card holders. After this, the regular distribution of rations was made free by the yogi government of Uttar Pradesh.
There were instructions for the distribution of free rations till june 2020 from the yogi government of Uttar Pradesh. Accordingly, from July onwards, ration card holders will have to pay instead of regular ration distribution. According to this, wheat was given 2 rupees per kg and rice 3 rupees. But now the ration distribution schedule is delayed by two months. In this case, a free ration is being provided from june to August.

In such a situation, ration card holders will have to pay in lieu of ration from September. Sources said that money has also been deposited from Kottars to collect food grains from the supply department. Currently, the distribution of 5 kg of rice per unit will continue under Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna kalyan Yojana. Recently, the central government talked about extending the free ration scheme by three months till September. According to this, the ration card holders will not get the benefit of this scheme from October.
