Should the Sedition Law be put on hold till it is reviewed? sc seeks a reply from the Center by tomorrow Sedition Law Review: The central government has decided to review the sedition law.
Chief Justice of india NV ramana told the government representative that "We are giving you time till tomorrow morning to take instructions from the government. Our concern is about pending matters and further future cases, till the government revises this law." Till then what will the government do on those matters."
To this, CJI ramana said that "we have to look at both the sides....not look like we are irrational. There are concerns about pending cases and misuse". The CJI told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, the representative of the central government, that "the Attorney General himself had told in the last hearing how a case of sedition was registered in maharashtra for reciting Hanuman Chalisa". The Chief Justice was referring to the case registered against Independent mp Navneet Rana.
