Should the Sedition Law be put on hold till it is reviewed? sc seeks a reply from the Center by tomorrow Sedition Law Review: The central government has decided to review the sedition law.

The supreme court on Tuesday, May 10 asked the central government to respond within 24 hours whether the sedition law can stay till it is reviewed, during this colonial period. Under the law of the law, the accused people can be given protection from this. It is to be known that a day before this, the central government had said that it has decided to review the sedition law. Today the supreme court expressed concern about those who are already facing sedition charges.
Chief Justice of india NV ramana told the government representative that "We are giving you time till tomorrow morning to take instructions from the government. Our concern is about pending matters and further future cases, till the government revises this law." Till then what will the government do on those matters."
Earlier, the supreme court asked some tough questions on the request for more time by the government to review the sedition law and on the misuse of the law. Chief Justice NV ramana said that "Government says they are investigating again. But we cannot be irrational. We have to decide how much time to give..Can someone stay in jail for months? Your Civil liberties are mentioned in the affidavit. How will you protect those liberties?
To this, CJI ramana said that "we have to look at both the sides....not look like we are irrational. There are concerns about pending cases and misuse". The CJI told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, the representative of the central government, that "the Attorney General himself had told in the last hearing how a case of sedition was registered in maharashtra for reciting Hanuman Chalisa". The Chief Justice was referring to the case registered against Independent mp Navneet Rana.
