Boris Johnson will reach india on 21 april in the midst of the Russia-Ukraine war that is now there. His visit is not only considered important bilaterally but its global implications are also being discussed. Boris will meet prime minister Narendra Modi on 22 April. His visit has been confirmed by his office.
Tour will start in Gujarat
Boris will begin his first visit to india on april 21 from Ahmedabad, where he will attend events to meet key businesses and discuss the thriving commercial, business, and people-to-people ties between the UK and India. This will be the first time that a british PM will visit Gujarat. About half of the British-Indian population in britain is Gujarati.
Boris said, as an economic power and the world's largest democracy, india is highly valued. india is a strategic partner for the UK in these uncertain times.
He said, “My visit to india will focus on things that are really important to the people of our two countries – from job creation and economic growth to energy security and defense. india may announce a major investment in key industries in both that will boost jobs and growth, as well as announce new collaborations on cutting-edge science, health, and technology.
There can be important agreements
An agreement with india is projected to increase total UK trade to £28 billion annually by 2035 and increase income across the UK.
According to Downing Street, the british PM will then travel to New delhi to meet prime minister Narendra Modi on 22 April. The official statement said that Boris will hold in-depth talks on britain and India's strategic defense, diplomatic and economic partnership, aimed at strengthening the close partnership between the two countries and advancing security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
