Hijab Row: Next hearing to be held on Monday??


The karnataka high court adjourned for monday the hearing on petitions challenging the state government's rule on dress code in schools. The karnataka high court on thursday heard the matter of wearing hijab in karnataka school.

 The high court said that the order to reopen the colleges will be passed. The court also said that no student should insist on wearing religious attire. The court said, there will be a ban on wearing a religious dress during the hearing.


The hearing in the high court started at around 2.30 pm on Thursday. A division bench of Chief Justice Ritu raj Awasthi, Justice krishna S Dixit, and JM Khaji heard various petitions regarding the matter. Sanjay Hegde, recalling his university days, said, there was no uniform in his time. He said, under a uniform code, there is no provision of penalty for violation.
After hearing all the arguments, the court adjourned the hearing till Monday.

Ban on the protest:

Meanwhile, Bengaluru police Commissioner Kamal pant has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC against any gathering, agitation, or any kind of protest within a radius of 200 meters from the gate of schools, pre-university, degree colleges. It will be in force in and around a college or other similar educational institution in the city of Bengaluru for two weeks from wednesday to february 22.
