To reduce reliance on petrol, the government has issued a directive to automakers. Flex asked to install fuel engines. Union Road Transport minister nitin gadkari made the revelation on Thursday. He said cars would soon be able to run on 100 per cent ethanol, which would reduce their dependence on petrol.


Nitin Gadkari on wednesday said he had signed a file advising carmakers to make flex-fuel engines. 


Gadkari said carmakers have been given six months to install flex-fuel engines in multi-fuel vehicles and companies like TVS Motors and Bajaj auto have already introduced new models for their two-wheelers and three-wheelers. 

Gadkari said that soon four-wheelers will run on 100 per cent ethanol. He said that this would not require petrol and would also save money by using green fuel.


What is Flex Fuel Engines

A flex-fuel motor engine is a sort of internal combustion engine. It runs on more than one type of fuel. It can use a mixture of ethanol and methanol along with petrol. 


With the availability of technology such as fuel composition sensors and ECU programming, fuel can be used automatically by setting the engine data-size.


9,000 crore project gift to Uttar Pradesh

Today, nitin gadkari laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 9,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh. The projects will be set up in meerut and Muzaffarnagar. In meerut, Launched projects worth Rs 8364 crore. 


He said ethanol, hydrogen and other biofuels were of great importance in the economy. Ethanol is made from corn and sugarcane. There is no shortage of these two crops in India.
