To reduce reliance on petrol, the government has issued a directive to automakers. Flex asked to install fuel engines. Union Road Transport minister nitin gadkari made the revelation on Thursday. He said cars would soon be able to run on 100 per cent ethanol, which would reduce their dependence on petrol.
Nitin Gadkari on wednesday said he had signed a file advising carmakers to make flex-fuel engines.
Gadkari said carmakers have been given six months to install flex-fuel engines in multi-fuel vehicles and companies like TVS Motors and Bajaj auto have already introduced new models for their two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

A flex-fuel motor engine is a sort of internal combustion engine. It runs on more than one type of fuel. It can use a mixture of ethanol and methanol along with petrol.With the availability of technology such as fuel composition sensors and ECU programming, fuel can be used automatically by setting the engine data-size.
