Chief minister stalin has written a letter to prime minister Modi demanding the immediate release of funds due under the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Chief minister stalin has written a letter to prime minister Modi urging him to immediately release the arrears to the state, citing delays in the payment of salaries to those working under the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.


In the letter, chief minister stalin noted that this was one of the largest social security schemes that would provide every family in the countryside with a maximum of one hundred days of employment in guaranteed employment in a financial year.

The total amount of Rs.3524.69 crore released to tamil Nadu from the central government in the financial year 2021-2022 has been fully utilized by crediting the workers' account till 15.09.2021 and since then no amount of Rs.1178.12 crore has been unpaid as of 1-11-2021 as no funds have been released for this scheme. As Chief stalin pointed out in his letter.


 Stalin also noted that the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was seen as a sustainable livelihood opportunity in rural areas and that many thousands of rural families were currently suffering due to delays in the payment of wages. 


In his letter, he demanded that immediate action be taken to release the funds in order to pay the dues.
