review meeting with all Regional Chief Engineers at the
electricity Board Headquarters today on precautionary measures and preparations to be taken ahead of the northeast monsoon.
Rajesh Lakhani, Managing Director,
tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation, as well as directors and senior executives, attended the meeting. The focus of the
review meeting was on stockpiling key electrical items such poles, wires, transformers, power towers, and other logistics. It was recommended to halt power supply as a preventive step during severe rains and storms to avoid power outages, and to carry out proper weeding and resumption of power supply as soon as the situation improved.
Sandbags and water discharge motors should be kept on hand at substations to minimise rainwater runoff, and heavy machinery, including staff, equipment, a JCP, and a crane, should be on standby to immediately repair damage to electrical structures caused by strong rains and storms, he suggested.
