The opposition virtual meeting witnessed the participation of the chief ministers of four main states. Congress interim chief sonia gandhi on friday chaired a virtual meeting with the leaders of Opposition parties amid efforts to unfold a common strategy against the ruling bjp ahead of various key state elections and 2024 polls. The Unity was displayed during the monsoon session of parliament when they accused the government to seek a discussion on the Pegasus snooping row, instead of the repeal of three “anti-farmer” laws, price hike, the federalism assault and the institutions of democracy that hit each and every citizen of India. If this unity sustains in the future sessions as well, then a larger political battle is awaiting!!
In a joint declaration issued after the meeting, the Opposition heads agreed that they will jointly organise objections all over the nation from september 20-30. These public protest actions will be determined by the respective state units, depending on the concrete circumstances of the Covid regulations existing in the lands. The leaders of 19 Opposition parties, call upon the people of the nation to rise to the chance to protect our democratic, secular, republican order with all our strength.
