Demolition of Tank Bund statues again?
The people of Andhra Pradesh and in particular Seemandhras felt immensely hurt when most of the statues belonging to their leaders were vandalized by Telangana activists during the Million March in Hyderabad in March 2001.
This was the last straw when it came to the open display of hatred of Seemandhras by Telangana protagonists and even Telanganites considered it as a blot on the state’s cultural heritage. After this episode, even CM Kiran tried to pacify everyone by installing the statues of cultural icons that were demolished and to this he also added the list of Telangana icons.
But with Hyderabad being a joint capital only for ten years and it being the capital of Telangana full fledged, now Seemandhras in Hyderabad are asking as to what will happen to the statues of their icons on Tank bund?
