She is known for her item songs and lead roles and songs in movies. She also has acted in 'n' number of female oriented movies in 80's period itself. She is a professional trained dancer and she has worked predominantly in all South Indian Languages.

She lost the shine in later part of 1980's as her sister Jayamalini entered into the movie industry. Till then she was the reigning queen. She made her debut in 1963 with the Tamil movie 'Periya Idathu Penn'.

Even though she is Tamil, most people including Tamils itself assume that she is Telugu as she has worked in more number of Telugu movies. Her dance for the song 'Kaana Karunguyilae..' in Chiyaan Vikram's 'Sethu' is still a super hit one.

Her famous Telugu movies include Pilla? Piduga? (1972), Gandharva Kanya (1979), Donga Ramudu & Party (2003), Bangaru Babu (2009) and Sita Ramulu (1980). South Indian Cinema has lost a talented dancer and a good soul.

On behalf of Team APHerald, We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and may her soul Rest in Peace !
