Charulatha Review: Story
Film starts with Saranya[Saranya] Singing ‘Lali Lali’ songs for her conjoint twin daughter Charu and Latha. This twins promises to each other that they won’t split from each other till death. One fine day Ravi [Skanda] comes into their life and both of them fall in love with him. But Ravi has love interest on Charu which brings the jealousy factor between the twins.
Difference between them reaches to peek level which forces her mother to make them get separated by medical surgery. Unfortunately one from the conjoint twins dies in the operation and girl who dies turns into spirit. What does this spirit do, will it take revenge, out of Charu & Latha who stays alive and whom does Ravi get married to, has to be seen in the silver screen
Charulatha Review : Star Performances
Priyamani will be remembered for both role as Charu and Latha by audiences for a long time. This is her best performance till date. She has shown various modulations in her characters in very convincing way.
Film lead Skanda has done a decent job which is required from him in a heroine oriented film. Saranya has portrayed the mother character once again and as usual gave good performance.
Sai Kumar brother Sai Sasi has given his best as swami ji and Seetha as Psychotherapists was decent. Tamil comedy actress Aarthi has done what work is needed from her.
Charulatha Review : Direction, Music & Technical Aspects
Director Pon Kumaran has impressed with his work covering a lot of angles in this film. Cinematography by Panner Selvan is pretty good, even the night & dark scenes are covered very well.
Music given by Sundar C Babu was good for the back ground score but fails to make its effect in songs.
Donmax editing work looks appt and needs special appreciations for this film. Even the production values were good.
Charulatha Review : Analysis
First half of the movies have a mix of required horror elements along with sister sentiment which will make the audiences get glued to their seats. The songs will disappoint the audiences and allows them to skip those minutes for some snacks. The back ground score especially in the few spine chilling scenes was good and maintains the horror-thriller flow till the interval.
Second half of the movie has Priyamani showing her potentials which made her won National award few years back. Last 20 minutes gives you a feel like the horror film has turned into a Sysco genre movie. As like a regular Telugu film a happy ending is given to this film by the director.
