Dhurandhar Highlights Lyari Area of Karachi
Dhurandhar Film Set and Production Details
Lyari Set Depiction
The film Dhurandhar depicts the Lyari area of Karachi, Pakistan.
The story revolves around an indian spy infiltrating terrorist organizations, showcasing the connections between Pakistani politicians, gangsters, and terrorist networks.
Set Construction
The Lyari set was built in bangkok, thailand, not Pakistan.
The production required building a 6-acre set within 20 days.
500 local Thai workers worked tirelessly day and night to complete the set.
Only a limited number of indian crew members could be brought to thailand, so collaboration with local artists was essential.
Reason for thailand Location
The production team searched for locations in multiple countries before selecting Thailand.
A large space was required to accommodate big stars and complex sequences, which wasn’t possible in mumbai alone.
Bangkok provided the ideal location to build an expansive set resembling Lyari.
Additional Sets
Besides the Lyari set in thailand, another large set was built in mumbai, India.
This helped add depth to the film’s narrative and allowed for scenes that couldn’t be shot on the bangkok set.
Production Designer
Saini S Johare, the production designer, shared detailed insights about the film’s set and production process.
Johare highlighted the challenges of building such a large set within a short time frame and coordinating between indian and Thai crews.
