Bengali director Arun Roy, famous for films like Bagha Jatin and Hiralal, died today on Thursday. He was only 56 years old. There was a complaint of lung infection.Famous bengali director Arun Roy died on thursday at the age of 56 due to a serious lung infection. Roy was battling cancer for a year. Kolkata's RG Kar Medical college and Hospital confirmed his death.


Arun Roy, whose real name is Arunav Raichoudhury. He was recently admitted to the hospital due to deteriorating health. Initially, he was kept in the ICU and then he was kept with the help of the BiPAP system, but his condition was worsening in the last few days, due to which he was put on ventilation.

He was undergoing treatment at RG Kar Medical college and Hospital. Dr. Kinjal Nanda, who was treating the late director, confirmed his death. He also shared an emotional tribute on Facebook, writing, "My Hiralal, rest in peace, just like the real Hiralal." Dr Nanda said Arun Roy will be taken to his Haridevpur home at 1 pm on Thursday. His body will then be kept at the Technician Studio so that fans and colleagues can pay their tributes.


Arun Roy gained immense fame with his debut film Hiralal, starring Kinjal Nanda in the lead role. Apart from this, the 2023 magnum opus 'Bagha Jatin' is based on the life of revolutionary Jatindranath Mukherjee, played by Dev. It was during the making of this film that Roy was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
