Artist Veena Nagda recalled the beautiful mehendi ceremony of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Renowned mehendi artist Veena Nagda recently shared heartwarming memories from deepika padukone and Ranveer Singh's opulent wedding in italy, which took place in 2018. The couple, now eagerly expecting their first child, celebrated their wedding in a way that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
In a conversation with bollywood Now, Veena recalled how deepika had promised her, during the filming of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, that she would hire her for her wedding. True to her word, deepika did just that. Veena only realized the scale of the event when she received a letter from ranveer singh at the visa office. The couple went the extra mile by booking Veena for five days instead of just the one day needed for the mehendi ceremony, allowing her to enjoy italy and explore its sights. “Deepika had promised me during Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that she would hire me for her wedding mehendi, and she kept that promise,” Veena shared.
Despite the cold weather in Lake Como, Deepika’s dedication to getting the mehendi just right was evident. She patiently waited for the intricate designs to dry before joining the dance floor, ensuring the mehendi’s rich, dark color remained intact. Veena described, “It was very cold when I did Deepika’s mehendi, but she made sure it was done on her hands and feet. She only danced once the mehendi had dried a bit to avoid smudging it.”
Ranveer Singh, known for his vibrant personality, initially considered incorporating a tiger, symbolizing his upcoming film Simmba, into his mehendi. However, he decided to honor his wife instead, choosing to feature her initials. Veena revealed, “At first, Ranveer wanted a tiger in his mehendi for his film Simmba. Then he changed his mind and decided he wanted Deepika’s name in his mehendi.”
The wedding, a breathtaking celebration of love and tradition, took place at the picturesque Villa del Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy. The private affair, attended by close family and friends, showcased a blend of Deepika's South indian heritage and Ranveer's Sindhi roots. The ceremonies included a traditional Konkani wedding followed by a vibrant Sindhi celebration. The couple wore exquisite outfits designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, reflecting Deepika’s elegance and Ranveer’s flamboyant style.
The villa’s natural beauty, complemented by understated yet luxurious decor, added a timeless romantic touch to the wedding festivities. The lush floral arrangements and elegant details enhanced the villa’s old-world charm, making the celebration truly unforgettable.
