Bollywood actor amitabh bachchan, who is now ranked fourth on the Hurun india Rich List for 2024, used to share a room with eight other people. His monthly salary was Rs 400. The actor explained why, after graduating from college, he was living in such a horrible circumstance in kolkata in an episode of the tv quiz program Kaun Banega Crorepati 16.
Speaking with Krishna, a KBC 16 competitor who resides in pune with eight other persons and is preparing for the maharashtra Public service Commission (MPSC) exam, amitabh revealed, "8 se hume itna zyada aashcharya nahi. Hum jab apna college se padhai karke nikle toh naukri dhundne nikle, toh hum kolkata gaye, waha kisi tarah se naukri mil gayi. Rs 400 mahine ke. (I am not surprised with 8 people staying in a room. When I finished my studies and went to find a job, I ended up in kolkata, where I managed to find a job that paid me Rs 400 monthly). Even there, I lived with 8 people in a room.”
The actor from Shehenshah also revealed that the room's two beds had to fit eight people. He so occasionally slept on the floor and occasionally got into arguments with his roommates about who got to sleep on the bed. With only two beds and eight of us, it was a lot of fun. Sometimes we slept on the bed, sometimes on the floor. Who would sleep on the floor or on the bed caused disagreements, the 81-year-old actor revealed.
