It’s a time of celebration at Disney as Inside Out 2 has officially become the highest-grossing animated film of all time. This Pixar Animation Studios release revisits the mind of teenage Riley, who now navigates a new array of emotions. With impressive global earnings of $1.46 billion, the film has overtaken frozen II to secure the top position. This milestone underscores Disney’s dominance in the animated film industry, with seven of the top 10 highest-grossing animated films hailing from Pixar or Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Additionally, Inside Out 2 also ranks as the 13th highest-grossing film globally and has just surpassed $600 in domestic earnings, reports Walt Disney.“Inside Out 2 is a quintessentially Pixar film, and it’s been amazing to see how it has connected so deeply with people all over the world. We knew it was really special, but no one could have predicted it would reach these record-breaking heights. We’re grateful to all the fans who have made this the biggest animated film ever,” said Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment.

Featuring the voices of Amy Poehler and maya Hawke, the movie has seen incredible box-office success this summer. It opened to record-breaking numbers, had a strong second weekend, and hit the $1 billion mark in just 19 days, which is way faster than any other animated film.
It also stands as 2024’s highest-grossing movie so far and is the only film this year.

The success of Inside Out 2 goes beyond just the numbers. Critically, Inside Out 2 has also been a hit. It’s Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, holds an A CinemaScore, and has a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Walt Disney Company has a history of not only creating cultural phenomena but also establishing beloved franchises. The original Inside which was released in 2015, won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. This opened doors for the Inside Out brand to grow into one of Pixar’s most iconic titles, expanding into shorts, merchandise and theme park attractions in many countries around the globe.
