Bhansali further revealed that the idea of this series came to him more than 20 years ago. He said, “Hiramandi used to come after every film. But I will say, it's too huge, it's too epic to make a two-hour movie. Finally, the time came and we said, let's make it into a series because only then will justice be done to it. The idea then was to make three big data-size, four big data-size films in one series.
