Singer KJ Yesudas, who has made a name for himself in the music world with his sweet voice, is celebrating his 84th birthday today.
KJ Yesudas was born in Port Kochi, kerala to Augustine Joseph and Elizabeth of a Latin Catholic Christian family.
As his father was also a musician, Yesudas initially learned music from his father and later continued his musical education at the music Academy in Tirupunithurai.
He also learned Hindustani music well and became a playback singer.
KJ Yesudas made his debut as a playback singer in the 1960s.
Yesudas, who made his debut in the 1962 malayalam film Kalpadukal, sang for the first time in tamil directed by S. Balachander.
Her first song in tamil was the song Neyum Bummy Naum Bummy in the film. But Konchum Kumari was his first release.
In 2006, Yesudas achieved a record by singing 16 film songs in four South indian languages.
He has wife Prabha and sons Vinod, Vijay and Vishal. His second son Vijay Yesudas is a playback singer in cinema like his father.
In his 50 years of screen career, he has recorded more than 40 thousand songs in malayalam, tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi,
Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tulu, Malay, Russian, Arabic, Latin and English. He is singing.
He has created history by winning the National Award for Best Playback singer 8 times. No other singer has achieved this feat so far.
