Ever since he made his debut with Vicky Donor, ayushmann khurrana has given some of the biggest hits and has also carved a niche for himself by picking unconventional and unique roles. The actor had only one release this year with Dream Girl-2 which went on to be a super hit at the box office. He has indeed cemented his reputation as a powerful performer, but the industry is not without competition.

In an exclusive interview, the actor revealed how he remains unfazed by the constant pressure of proving himself and also revealed how he is happy when his contemporaries succeed, “I get inspired by my contemporaries. As long as the release dates of our films aren’t the same, there’s no competition (laughs). I consume their films as an audience member, who loves to get entertained and that’s about it. I’m happy for their success. I would pick up the phone with them if I liked their work. I loved Ranveer Singh’s performance in rocky Aur rani Kii prem Kahaani. He was phenomenal. I complimented him and karan (Johar, the director). I loved that film. I think it’s a beautiful film.”

The 38-year-old actor who has portrayed a variety of roles says that his choices of subjects may be unconventional but he also thinks about the commercial feasibility. At the same time, the Anek actor adds that he would love to create a balance like he has done in the past. “Once in a while, I’ll do a film like dream girl which takes me to a wider audience. I’ve received scripts of different genres, types, and tonality. It’s just that I follow my gut when it comes to doing a film. If I’m entertained or engaged by the narration or by reading a script, I just go for it. I don’t think if I’ve done something like that in the past or the fact that I should only do commercial films.”
