Kalki 2898 AD becomes the Most Expensive Indian film to date, budget of Rs 600 crore (US$75 million)

Accordingly the highly anticipated pan india multilingual release, kalki 2898 AD, is generating buzz among the audience. This upcoming epic science fiction dystopian movie is written and directed by nag ashwin and produced by C. aswani dutt of Vyjayanti Movies. Boasting a star-studded cast, including Prabhas, the film was earlier reported to hit the cinema halls on january 12, 2024. While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the film is going to get a new release date which is likely to be sometime in May.

Vyjayanthi Movies announced the film in february 2020, marking the studio’s 50th anniversary. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, postponed the film’s release. The film’s shoot commenced in July 2021 at a set in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, and is still underway. The film, originally shot in both telugu and Hindi, will undergo dubbing for release in multiple languages.

Kalki 2898 AD is set to become the most expensive indian film to date, with a substantial budget of Rs 600 crore (US$75 million). Santosh Narayanan is handling the musical score, Djordje Stojiljkovic is the cinematographer, and Nitin Jihani Choudhary is overseeing the production design. Anticipated to hit theatres in 2024, the film is gaining attention not only for its significant budget but also for its creative team.

Comparing production costs, Animal, featuring ranbir kapoor and rashmika mandanna, has been made at a modest budget of Rs 100 crore, whereas kalki 2898 AD boasts a substantial Rs 600 crore investment. Despite the budget, Animal is earning accolades at the box office and is reportedly accumulating over four times its budget.
