Leo Lyrics! Telugu Audience Pleading For Tamil Song In Theaters

G GOWTHAM
The days of the filmmakers trying to make the dubbed version appear authentic are long gone. The filmmakers used to take great care when dubbing dialogue and song lyrics for tamil films that were being dubbed into telugu so that the core message of the film was conveyed. The music lyrics these days are bothersome to listen to, yet the conversations are bearable in some way.

A significant telugu release is also being planned for the much awaited Vijay's LEO. With every new film, the tamil actor strives to develop his market in Telugu. As of right now, one week before the film's premiere, the creators have published the telugu lyrics to the song "Naa Ready."

The music by Anirudh does not aid the listener in understanding the lyrics because they are so pitiful. The lyrics are something along the lines of "Lorry Lo Thosi," "Katti Goni Sanchilo Petti," and "Pagapatti Tayyarayyi Opponent Madathapetti." On social media, movie fans and music aficionados are requesting that tamil songs be played in theatres instead of these terrible telugu lyrics.

Not only is there a grievance with LEO, but in the past 10 years, several tamil films have also been distributed in Telugu. While contemporary directors and musicians are more concerned in other components of the film than dialogue and lyrics, tamil artists such as AR rahman and ilayaraja spent great attention with lyrics in other languages. They seem content to use popular and rhyming terms to manage the lyrics rather than investing thousands of rupees on telugu lyrics.

These days, dubbing films doesn't even involve modifying the titles—just the songs. Recently, the telugu version of Ajith's film valimai with the same title was released. Petta, starring Rajinikanth, followed a similar path. What is it, if it isn't taking the audience for granted? It is high time that filmmakers should focus on delivering sensible content in dubbing films and there is a need to understand that their cost efficiency is causing a quality deficiency.
