Shiva, who previously directed pleasant comedies like ninnu kori and Majili, said that he wants to keep his storylines straightforward with likeable characters. shiva claims that because of his upbringing in a middle-class household, he finds it simple to investigate the subtle emotional subtleties and behavioural patterns of members of that socioeconomic group. shiva continues, "Through his stories, I try to elevate the drama and emotion associated with the harsh realities of middle-class families."

I saw films by Bharathi Raja, mani ratnam, and sekhar kammula as a child. Therefore, my writing and the way I present love tales may have been unintentionally impacted by their films, shiva said. The filmmaker acknowledged that the Naa Roja Nuvve song and the Kashmiri setting were the primary causes of parallels to Mani Ratnam's Sakhi. He claims, however, that the similarities are restricted to a small number of frames and that he is unable to duplicate what mani ratnam accomplished with Sakhi.

Shiva said that he is not worried about Vijay devarakonda and Samantha's real-life experiences, thus he has no qualms about casting them for this heartfelt love tale. He continues by saying that despite the fact that there have been many love tales presented by filmmakers over the years and even in the wake of the emergence of OTT culture, when a tonne of such stories are easily available, the narrative of kushi has some magic woven around it that appeals to and connects with everyone.

Shiva claims that he hired chinmayi to subtitle samantha because he intended to have her portrayal in kushi bring back memories of Yem maya Chesave and Majili. shiva went on to say that while he might have chosen a more attractive woman to play the lead role, samantha was the only one who could have successfully evoked the core emotions of his tale. He thus thinks highly of her among the modern heroines. According to shiva, the Vijay-Sam duo is Kushi's main attraction. shiva said that Vijay devarakonda this time really utilised his sense of humour.
