Regarding box office successes, there were high expectations for the month of May. The movie business sorely needed some hits to get through april after a miserable month that saw gigantic duds like Agent and Shaakuntalam. The audience and reviewers responded to Ugram more favourably than they did to the dreadful Ramabanam. But neither movie had any kind of impact.
Naga chaitanya placed a lot of faith in the action thriller Custody by venkat Prabhu. But the movie's box office performance was a complete failure. Custody did poorly at the movie office due to its weak scripting, rambling action sequences, and obvious plot twists. The Akkineni family is still waiting for a box office success.
