Producer’s Over-Confidence Killed Collections Of Good Film?
The media regularly questioned why this movie is competing with titles like megastar Chiranjeevi's Godfather and nagarjuna Akkineni's The Ghost during the promotion of Swathimuthyam. producer Naga vamsi said at the time that because his movie came from a large production company, it too was a major movie. Who would, however, rush to a tiny movie (i.e., one with a new cast or heroes who have fewer fans) while the two biggest stars, chiru and Nag, are in the theatres?
Even Nagarjuna's movie is struggling at the box office right now because chiranjeevi is knocking it out of the park; if The Ghost suffers the same fate, it is clear where Swathimuthyam sits. The outcome would have undoubtedly been better had vamsi taken a little more care and released the movie at a period when there aren't any other major motion pictures showing, or at least a week after "Godfather." The current predicament is a direct result of the overconfidence that Swathimuthyam could contend with powerful motion pictures.
