On its opening weekend, the highly anticipated
kannada movie "Vikrant Rona" did well in the
telugu states of
andhra pradesh and Telangana. While "Ramarao On Duty" by
ravi teja was a huge
box office failure, Sudeep's picture did well in some theatres. The first weekend saw a sizable amount of revenue for the movie.
sudeep travelled to
hyderabad to rejoice after seeing the movie's first three days of
box office success. But then things started to shift.
On Monday, the
movie lost its audience. On
tuesday and Wednesday, the situation is the same. Weekday collections are pitifully meagre. Although "Vikrant Rona" garnered unfavourable reviews and uneven word-of-mouth, it did start to gain some traction. "Vikranth Rona" ended up being a one-time event. This weekend, "Sita Ramam" and "Bimbisara," two brand-new releases, will be in direct competition with the movie. In Karnataka, the
movie is a hit.
Outside of Karnataka, the
movie is performing remarkably well abroad. The
movie has performed well at the
box office, with Vikrant Rona earning between Rs 5.5 and Rs 6 crore on Day 7. The film premiered at a staggering Rs 35 crore, and since then, its popularity has continuously increased. Trade sources claim that the
movie will reach break-even quickly. Everyone was surprised by the movie's performance in Telugu-speaking states, where it is close to the Rs 10-crore mark in
andhra pradesh and Telangana. The
local crowd seemed to enjoy the 3D version.
