This movie saves rape victim in real life

Jyothika’s ‘Ponmagal Vanthal’ which released last year has helped a rape victim open up. 


Movie and cricket are two important things in this country. indians would survive even without food or water but not without these two. Such has been its influence in our lives. It has been both positive and negative. Movies in particular is often criticised for being negative influence on the audience however there are rare times where it makes a real impact in the society. 


Jyothika’s ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ was an investigational crime thriller that released last year which talked about sexual abuse. Apparently, the movie had been playing in the tv and a 9-year old who saw the movie got influenced and disclosed that she had been sexually abused in the past 48 hours. The family members immediately took action and filed a complaint against the accused. Subsequently, the accused has been sentenced him an imprisonment for 5 years. 


Acknowledging the incident, jyothika on her instagram wrote “Shatter that silence! Each time a woman stands up for herself, unknowingly she stands up for all women.” 


The movie was directed by JJ Fredrick and produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, the movie is available in amazon Prime Video.
