IT Problem for Suriya - After Vijay and Dhanush!

The chennai high court has dismissed the petition of actor surya seeking exemption from paying interest on income tax. Actor surya had filed a case in the high court seeking exemption from paying interest on income tax. When the case came up for hearing, the Income Tax Department told the court that he was not entitled to interest because he had not fully cooperated with the tax assessment process and therefore his petition should be dismissed.



Surya's petition was dismissed by high court Judge Subramaniam accepting the Income Tax Department's contention. The Income Tax Department had issued an order to pay income tax of Rs.3.11 crore for the financial year 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. Surya's case seeking an injunction restraining him from charging interest as he was charged income tax after 3 yearsActor surya is not entitled to interest deduction for non-cooperation in income tax assessment revealed Income Tax Department. 



High court judge SS Subramaniam dismisses the Income Tax case and has demanded surya to pay the entire amount along with interest. Recently, dhanush and Vijay also demanded Tax exemption and the high court asked them to pay the entire amount without any exemption.
