Instead of standing in long queues at bank branches or ATMs, online payments have become an easy alternative to sending money. Although making digital payments through Unified Payments Interdata-face (UPI) is easy, it needs to be handled very carefully as sometimes wrong UPI IDs or account numbers lead to erroneous transactions. Most people data-face the problem of transferring the amount to the wrong person's account while doing online transactions through UPI payments. people don't need to worry about this as there is a solution to get back wrongly sent money.
If you have paid online to the wrong number, all you need to do is to contact the customer care of UPI payment platforms like GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc. without panicking. A complaint should be filed by sharing the transaction details and you should report the same to your bank. As per the RBI guidelines, it suggests that refunds can be made within 48 hours of the complaint being made in case of an erroneous payment. You should also note that the complaint must be filed within 3 days of the erroneous transaction. Similarly, if you have made a payment to the wrong bank account through UPI or Net Banking, you should call 18001201740 immediately and file a complaint. After filing the complaint you have to go to the concerned bank where you hold the account and fill a form with all the information contained therein.
If the bank is not willing to help you, you should file a complaint with the bank OF INDIA' target='_blank' title='reserve bank of india-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">reserve bank of india Ombudsman at bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in. Never delete the transaction information in the mobile as the PPBL number in it will be required for reporting to you. Do not forget to mention this number along with all other details and your grievance in the complaint form. You can also report wrong transactions through the NBCI website which provides UPI services. Always be careful while entering the recipient's UPI ID, their mobile number, the amount to be transferred, and your account's UPI PIN while doing online transactions.
