Government employees should not keep a salary account in a particular bank and if they already have it, the account should be closed. It is noteworthy that this order of the punjab state government is about the famous private bank hdfc Bank. Why should the salary account of the government employees in hdfc bank be closed? In the order issued by the Water Resources Department of the punjab State government, a memo has been sent to the senior officials including the Chief engineer, and Superintending engineer of the Water Resources Department. In this, all the employees have been instructed to close the accounts of hdfc bank immediately. It has been reported that the Principal Secretary of Finance has sent this report to the Secretary of the Department of Water Resources of the government of punjab, in which all the employees of the department have been requested to close the accounts of hdfc bank immediately.
When the punjab government inquired about the reason for taking such strict action against hdfc bank, it was said that hdfc bank does not cooperate with the punjab Water Resources Department. That is why it is said that it has been decided that no government employee should keep an account in that bank.
A government official said that hdfc bank had given certain guarantees to the mining contractors of the punjab State Water Resources Department, but hdfc bank had not followed through on those guarantees, hence the move. hdfc bank, while explaining the matter, said that it is committed to fulfilling all its obligations as per the terms of the bank guarantees and the bank has at all times promptly fulfilled all its obligations in respect of bank guarantees issued on behalf of the mining contractors.
