This medicine is very special for the elderly, it reduces the risk of heart disease and premature death

According to research, through 'statin therapy' the risk of heart disease and premature death can be reduced in people aged 60 years and above.

Statin therapy reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in people over the age of 60. The drug is safe and highly beneficial for people over the age of 85. Statins are known as wonder drugs. They are a class of lipid-lowering drugs that significantly reduce cholesterol levels in the blood.

These drugs inhibit the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a major role in the formation of cholesterol in the liver. By reducing cholesterol, statins help prevent cardiovascular diseases (CVD). It is a statin drug that works to control serious diseases like heart attack and stroke in old age.

Is effective in the treatment of CVD

Statins are commonly prescribed for both the treatment and prevention of CVD, making them an integral part of modern cardiovascular medicine. A new study of adults 60 years and older now found that the use of statin therapy as primary cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention was effective in preventing CVD and all-cause mortality, even in adults 85 years and older.

Report published in 'Annals of Internal Medicine'

According to a report published in the 'Annals of Internal Medicine', researchers from the university of hong kong set a goal to investigate the relationship between statin therapy and CVD risk using electronic health records (EHR) from the hong kong Hospital Authority. The research included adult patients over the age of 60 who did not have any previous CVD.

According to the data found in the report, starting statin therapy in people of all ages reduced CVD and mortality from all causes. Even in people aged 85 years and above, the mortality rate decreased.
