Dog meat consumption is not illegal..Let's understand?

The new rule forbids killing dogs and selling their flesh in South Korea, but it does not forbid eating them. Indeed, the new law does not make consuming dog meat unlawful. The new regulation has set a three-year time restriction for all vendors who deal in dog meat. Before 2027, they will have to shut down their company.

All duly registered dog farms, butcher shops, retailers, and eateries will be required to notify the local government of any future plans. They will need to disclose their plans for their new venture as well as when they intend to quit selling dog meat. This will also be the basis for determining their remuneration. The Ministry of Agriculture projected that by april 2022, 1,100 farms were producing 570,000 dogs, which would be served in roughly 1,600 eateries across the nation.

After that, a person data-faces a punishment of up to Rs 19 lakh , or up to three years in jail if they are discovered to have killed a dog and sold its meat. A fine of Rs 12.58 lakh or a prison sentence of up to two years may also be imposed for selling and raising dogs for food.
