After 13 years, the indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued dietary guidelines, stating that sugarcane juice, which we all love to consume in summer, should be avoided. The body needs hydration to avoid health problems due to extreme summer temperatures. Water is no doubt a wonder drink, but can you drink plain water every day? Even if you drink it like that, at some point you may not like its taste or you may get bored. In such a situation, fruit juices can be taken to hydrate the body. But are all juices good for health? However, some juices may harm the body.
Pointing this out, after 13 years the indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) issued dietary guidelines stating that sugarcane juice, which we all love to eat in summer, is unhealthy and should be avoided. As 100 milliliters of sugarcane juice contains around 13-15 grams of sugar, the indian Council of Medical Research has said that sugarcane juice should be avoided.
Sugarcane is naturally high in sugar. So its consumption should be less. According to data from the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), 100 milliliters of sugarcane juice contains 13 to 15 grams of sugar. Sugarcane is high in a type of natural sugar called sucrose. Sugarcane juice contains 15 percent sucrose and 15 percent fiber. According to medical experts, people above the age of 18 should not exceed 30 grams of sugar. At the same time, children aged 7 to 10 years should consume only 24 grams. Although sugarcane juice contains some nutrients, it may not be suitable for everyone. Apart from sugarcane juice, ICMR has asked people to avoid other drinks including sugary soft drinks, tea, coffee, and other caffeinated drinks, energy drinks, packaged fruit juices, and alcoholic drinks.
