Tamil Nadu minister Ma Subramanian said on sunday that new variants of Omicron BA4 and BA5 have been detected in tamil Nadu. He said that out of 150 samples, 12 samples were sent to the laboratory in Hyderabad, in which the new variant has been confirmed. The BA-4 variant has been found in four people, while the BA-5 variant has been found in eight people. All the infected have been isolated. These patients are being closely monitored. At present their condition is stable.
Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on sunday expressed concern over the increasing corona infection in the country. He appealed to the people to take adequate steps to contain the spread of the infection. He said that cases of Kovid are increasing in many countries including USA, Australia, Germany, India. According to the data updated by the Union health Ministry at 8 am on sunday, 4,270 new cases have been found across the country in the last 24 hours, including 1,544 from kerala alone and 1,357 from Maharashtra. Due to increasing cases, the daily infection rate has also increased to more than one percent (1.03 percent) after 34 days. Earlier, the daily infection rate was 1.07 percent on May 1.
According to the information shared by the Union health Ministry, the weekly infection rate in the country is 0.84 percent. There have been 15 deaths during this period, out of which 13 deaths are from kerala alone. Active cases have also increased by 1,636 to 24,052 which is 0.06 per cent of the total cases. The recovery rate of patients is 98.73 percent and the death rate remains at 1.22 percent. A total of 194.01 crore doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine have also been administered so far.
