Why is it difficult to reduce ozone pollution?Reducing ozone pollution is not easy. It is like a cycle in which polluting gases combine to form ozone. Even if we reduce these polluting gases, ozone will not be eliminated. For this, we have to work very carefully. According to the CSE report, the government has a plan to reduce ozone pollution called the National Clean air Program (NCAP). But along with ozone pollution, there is also the problem of other types of pollution such as small dust particles, nitrogen oxide and other harmful gases. When we reduce one type of pollution, the other may increase. The 2020 State of Global air Report states that india has the highest number of deaths due to ground level ozone. The amount of ozone has increased by about 17% between 2010 and 2017. There is no complete information about ozone pollution because there are no good ways to check it. Ozone is a complex gas and it is difficult to understand it. Apart from this, the amount of ozone is seen only for a few hours, not for the whole day.Ozone pollution is now a year-round problemEarlier it was believed that ozone pollution occurs only in summer, but this study has found that this pollution now remains throughout the year. In other seasons, the amount of ozone definitely decreases, but it does not disappear completely. In the cities of South india where there is more sunlight, the amount of ozone can increase anytime throughout the year. More heat and sunlight is needed to spread ozone in a larger area, which usually happens in the summer season in April-May. Apart from this, the level of ozone also increases in October-November after the monsoon. In North india, the formation of ozone decreases due to fog and cold in January. But this study has found that in Delhi, the level of ozone was very high at many places in January.
