The government's decision to increase the number of Plus Two seats this year is being challenged by a group of teachers in the upper secondary school grades. high court decision requiring proof of claimed insufficient amenities in classrooms, they believe, would be violated. Higher secondary school seats would be increased this year, according to V. Sivankutty, minister of general education.
This year, the government has authorised a slight rise of 20% in the number of students enrolled in Plus Two programmes. In an upper secondary class, the maximum number of pupils was limited to 50. It was reported by Mr. Antony that when the Plus Two course was first introduced in 1991, there were just a few students.

In a recent article, Antony criticised the government's plan to increase the maximum number of students in a classroom from 50 to 60 kids. When there is a lack of room, he added, it is impossible to accommodate 60 to 65 pupils. A student and a teacher, he said, were both affected by the rise in seats in 2019. Per child, a classroom must have 8 square feet of floor space and 8 cubic feet of air space, according to kerala Education Rules, Chapter IV, Rule 6. As a guideline, the dimensions for secondary schools should be 6x6x3.7 metres.

To the government's counter-affidavit that there would be enough room for instructors and pupils in line with repeated rulings, P.V. Asha, a single judge, found merit. This is a very important issue and should be addressed by the government after real verification. Since the COVID-19 epidemic is already spreading, quick intervention is almost difficult, the report concluded.
